Frequently asked questions.

Member vs. Donor

Understanding the unique roles and impact of our members and donors.

What’s the difference between being a member and a donor?

Member: Membership makes progress possible. As a member-supported organization, your annual $50 membership gives you access to special member-only events, invitations to private screenings and partner events, and occasional thank-you items like stickers that connect with our mission.

Donor: Funding from our donors supports Quiet Communities’ programs and operations. One-time or recurring contributions provide support to grow our mission and initiatives. While donations may not offer direct benefits, they are often tax-deductible, allowing donors to make a meaningful impact while enjoying potential tax advantages.

What are the benefits of becoming a Quiet Communities member?

Members receive:

  • Access to exclusive resources, events, trainings, or services offered by Quiet Communities.

  • Invitations to members-only meetings and programs like our virtual QC Close-up series that offer access to conversations with leading noise experts.

  • Opportunities to connect with other Quiet Communities members.

  • Special mission-related gifts.

  • Invitations to private screenings and partner events.

  • Plus, the Quiet Matters® monthly newsletter with member announcements, advocacy opportunities, resources, community stories, industry news, and progress updates.

What are the benefits of being a donor?

The satisfaction of directly supporting the Quiet Communities mission.

  • Potential tax benefits (depending on the nature of the donation and local restrictions).

  • Opportunities to fund specific initiatives or projects.

Can I be both a member and a donor?

Yes! Many people choose to support the organization as both a member and a donor. Membership allows you to enjoy specific benefits, while additional donations provide extra support to further the mission.

Which option is right for me?

  • If you want access to specific benefits or want to feel like part of a community, membership is a great choice.

  • If you’re passionate about supporting the organization’s mission without needing direct benefits, becoming a donor may be the right path.

  • You can also combine both options to maximize your impact and involvement!
