As noise and emissions from cars, motorcycles, and trucks continue to increase in neighborhoods nationwide, so does the need to advocate for quieter, healthier, livable streets.
Everyone deserves quiet
The Quiet Streets program brings stakeholders together to tackle excessive vehicle noise and pollution. Restrictions on vehicle speed, limited access to through traffic, enforcement of laws on illegal exhaust modifications and effective urban planning that prioritizes pedestrian-friendly environments and green spaces, are just some of the ways to make neighborhoods more livable.

House Rep. Jared Solomon, D-Philadelphia, recently introduced House Bill 2556, which if passed would levy a fine of up to $1,000 and up to 30 days in jail for selling a cut-out, bypass or similar device that increases the noise from a vehicle’s exhaust system. Read the full article in The Observer.
